Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of iris.market and related services (the "Service"), operated by Iris Market, Inc. ("iris," "we," or "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for activity that occurs under your account.

The Service

iris is a marketplace that helps people list items and services they have and find items and services they need. iris provides tools to create, value, and match listings. iris is not a party to transactions between members.

Listings and Transactions

You are responsible for your listings and for any transaction you enter into with another member. You agree to list only items and services you have the right to offer, to describe them accurately, and to comply with applicable laws. iris does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any listing or the conduct of any member.

Payments and Fees

iris uses third-party payment processors, including Stripe, to facilitate payments between members. iris charges a service fee on completed cash transactions, plus applicable payment processing fees. When you pay for something, your payment is held until you confirm you received it, and is released to the seller only then. The fees that apply, how payments are held and released, and our refund and fulfillment policies are described in our Payments Terms, which are part of these Terms. By making or receiving a payment through the Service, you also agree to the applicable processor's terms. iris is not a bank and is not responsible for the acts or omissions of any payment processor. Members are responsible for any taxes arising from their transactions.

Your Content

You retain ownership of the photos, text, and other content you submit. By submitting content, you grant iris a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and process that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service, including generating listings, valuations, and matches. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this license and that your content does not infringe the rights of others.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to list illegal, stolen, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited items; to harass, defraud, or mislead other members; to post false content; or to interfere with the operation of the Service.

Text Messaging

If you opt in by adding your mobile number to your account, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from iris related to your listings and account, such as item analysis, listing confirmations, and verification codes. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using the Service. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis, without warranties of any kind. iris does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that listings or valuations are accurate.

Valuations

iris uses automated tools, including AI, to suggest descriptions, categories, and estimated values for listings. These valuations are estimates for convenience only — they are not appraisals, offers, or guarantees of resale value. You are responsible for setting your own prices and for verifying any information before relying on it.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, iris is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for disputes, losses, or transactions between members.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove any listing or content, at our discretion — including if we believe you have violated these Terms or created risk for iris or other members. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
