Enorme Telephone 1985
A collaboration between Ettore Sottsass, David Kelley, and Jean Pigozzi
In 1985, three visionaries came together to create something extraordinary. Ettore Sottsass, the legendary Italian designer and founder of the Memphis Group. David Kelley, the Stanford engineer who designed the first Apple mouse and later founded IDEO. And Jean "Johnny" Pigozzi, the collector and entrepreneur who brought them together.
The result was the Enorme Telephone - now in the permanent collections of MoMA, The Met, SFMOMA, and the RISD Museum.
450 pristine, unopened units were recently discovered in a warehouse in Stanford, California. Untouched since 1986. Waiting.
This is not just a phone. It's design history.
